Thomas “Tom” L. Griffith, age 81, of Morristown, passed away Friday, January 21, 2022.
Tom was born December 29, 1940 in Lenoir, NC. He served four years in the United States Air force, six years in the United States Naval Reserves, and fourteen months in the United States National Guard. He was enlisted with the highest rank of E-4. Tom later came to Morristown and graduated from Carson Newman University with a Master’s degree in accounting. Tom started and retired from his own business, Griffith Business and Tax. He was employed by the Hamblen County Substance Abuse Coalition. Tom was also a Mason in Morristown. He had a love for his faith, family and classic cars.
Tom was preceded in death by his father, Homer W. Griffith; mother, Geraldine Thompson Griffith; brother, Ron Griffith; and daughter, Andrea Winstead.
Tom is survived by his wife, Phyllis Klepper; son, Michael (Marjie Lee) Griffith, daughter, Brandi (jeff) Gibson; grandchildren, Trey (Alisha) Griffith, Ryan (Kaitlyn) Winstead, Mikayla (Jeffrey) Helm, Madision Shoemaker, and Makayla Reeves; great-grandchildren, Aubrie, Chloe, Kinzley, Brynlee, Graylen, and Ruby; brother and sisters, Gary Griffith, Pat (Al) Johnson, and Betty Fulbright; along with several special nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends Saturday, January 29, 2022 from 1:00 – 2:30 P.M. in the chapel of Stetzer-Bales Funeral Home. A memorial service will follow at 2:30 P.M. with Rev. Shane Johnston and Rev. Bobby Kitts officiating. Military graveside services will follow at Providence Baptist Church County Line Cemetery.
