Robert Alfred (AL) Hodges, Jr., 74, passed away peacefully Tuesday, December 24, 2024 at his home in Morristown. Al was a member of the First Presbyterian Church.
Al was a well respected commercial real estate appraiser. He attended Baylor School in Chattanooga his freshman year of high school. He was a 1968 graduate in the first graduating class at Morristown West High. He graduated from The University of Tennessee and was employed by the Department of Transportation with the State of Tennessee. He attained his Master Appraiser Institute (MAI) degree from Chicago, IL. He was a commercial real estate appraiser and owner of Al Hodges, Co. in Knoxville and later opened his appraisal business in Morristown.
He was preceded in death by his parents; Robert Alfred (Bob) Hodges, Sr., and Dorothy Isely Hodges; and by his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Gene and Phyllis Carter of Mosheim.
He is survived by his devoted, loving wife, Sherry Carter Hodges; sister, Sarah Willis (Bill); his niece, Angela Elizabeth Powell; and great-nephew, Drew Jason Powell of Knoxville; uncle, William E. (Bill) Hodges, Jr. (Sissie) of Signal Mtn., TN; Benji Hodges, son; sister-in-law, Susan (Mark) Compton, of Greeneville; niece-in-law, Whitney (Cody) Holt; and great-niece-in-law, Sophia of Mosheim; and dear supporting family Lisa and Tim Newton.
Much appreciation and thank you to Sherry’s friends, Snooky Swatzell and Debby Miles for their support. Special thanks to the staff in the ER and Intermediate Care Unit at Morristown Hamblen Hospital and a note of appreciation to Dr. Linas Adams for his devotion and compassion.
