Rev. John Richard Turner, age 75, went to be with the Lord on Friday, October 31, 2025. John was saved at a young age and went on to pastor several local churches. He loved the Lord and wanted to share that with everyone. He was a graduate of ETSU.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Brenda Turner; parents, Ralph and Iva Turner; and brother, Allen Turner.
He is survived by his children, Jennifer (Terry) Winstead, and Richard (Christy) Turner; grandchildren, Taylor Turner (Kris), Tyler, Kyndel, Hannah, and Emma Winstead; siblings, Patsy Robeson, Mary Jane Collins, Robert Turner, and Ruth Deyton; special nieces Melody (Nathan) DuBois (who he loved like a daughter), and Whitney Carpenter; special friend, Tristan Sturgill; along with other family members and friends.
The family would like to give a special thank you to UT Hospice for all the love, care, concern, and prayers they gave the family.
The family will receive friends Tuesday, November 4, 2025 from 5-7 p.m. at Central Baptist Church. Funeral services will follow at 7:00 p.m. with Rev. Shane Pierce and Richard Taylor officiating. Graveside/interment services will be Wednesday, November 5, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. at Bethesda Cemetery.
