Monica Joan Morley, 50, of Dandridge, Tennessee passed away on January 25, 2025 due to medical complications and kidney disease. She passed peacefully in her sleep surrounded by loving family and friends.
Monica was born January 02, 1975 in Dayton, Ohio, the daughter of Joan Henrietta McNew and Joseph Randolph Fletcher.
Monica graduated from Sevier County High School in 1993 and completed her freshman year of college in 1994.
Monica married Ronald Eugene Thompson on November 27, 2001, and was blessed with two children: Ronald Eugene Thompson II and Charlee Denita Thompson. Later, they adopted their third child, Crystal Claxton. Monica and Ronald were married for 8 years before divorcing on September 04, 2009.
Monica married again on September 24, 2011, to Joshua Daniel Gann. Monica and Joshua had no children together but continued to care for her son Ronald, and daughters Charlee and Crystal. Monica was preceded in death by Joshua on December 27, 2024. Monica and Joshua remained married until Joshua’s death but have been legally separated since 2022.
Monica was a talented waitress and restaurant manager since she first started working at a Big Boy at 14 years old. Her long list of restaurants included Big Boy, Shoney’s, Texas Roadhouse, and many others. Most notably, however, was her full-time employment as a mother to her three children. Everything Monica did, she did for her children. No matter what happened to her or her family, she continued to get up every day and fight for those she loved most. Her children meant everything to her, and she made sure everyone knew it.
Monica was an avid pool player and lived most of her life with a pool cue in hand. She was a cherished member of pool communities in Knoxville, Sevierville, and the surrounding area. Monica’s talent was widely acknowledged by her peers and fellow players. She has won many tournaments and has received several accolades for her prowess.
Monica attended church at Paw Paw Hollow Baptist Church in Strawberry Plains, Tennessee. Monica was a Baptist Christian and embodied all the values thereof. She prayed often and made sure all her children knew the lord. Monica was saved and baptized at her childhood church.
Remaining to cherish Monica’s memory are her fiancé Charles David Givens; son, Ronald; daughters, Charlee and Crystal; grandchildren, Natalin and Levi; brothers, Anthony and Timothy Mitchem; stepsiblings, Rick Bailey, Kurtis Fletcher, Waylon Fletcher, Kevin Fletcher, and Blanche Fletcher; nephew, Gregory Mitchem; niece, Ashley Mitchem; and lifelong friends, Waynette Weaver and Stormy Davis.
Preceding Monica in death are her ex-husband, Joshua Gann; mother, Joan Fletcher; father, Joseph Fletcher; and brothers, Daryll Clayton Mitchem, Gregory Mitchem, and David Morley.
Monica’s Celebration of Life will be held at East Tennessee Billiards located at 2002 Winfield Dunn Pkwy, Sevierville, TN 37876 on Saturday, February 01, 2025 from 10:00 AM to12:00 PM. Monica’s interment will be held at Paw Paw Hollow Cemetery where she will be buried beside her mother Joan, her father Joseph, and her brother David.
