John 8:12
“I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness but will have the light of life.”
Michael Lee Nichols, age 61, of Bean Station, Tennessee, passed away peacefully at his home on Friday, July 3, 2026.
Born on January 30, 1965, in Kingsport, Tennessee, Michael was a devoted husband, father, brother, uncle, and friend. He gave his life to Christ and loved listening to gospel music. He worked for many years at Custom Woodwork and later at Berkline in Morristown. After Berkline closed, he worked in the restaurant industry for several years until declining health made it impossible for him to continue working.
Michael was known for his kind heart, quiet sense of humor, and the love he had for his family. He also loved lighthouses and leaves behind many cherished memories with those who knew and loved him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Rosa Nichols and Robert Nichols; his brother, Robert “Bubby” Nichols; his sister, Debra Nichols; and his nephew, Wayne Bunch.
He is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Shelia Nichols; his son, Sean Nichols; his daughter, Sierra Barnes and husband, Logan Barnes; sister-in-law, Christy (Tommy) Jarnigan; his brother, Laton Nichols and wife, Mary Nichols; and his sisters, Bobbie Archer and husband, Frank Archer, and Donna Baxley; along with several nieses, nephews, other family members, and friends.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, July 11, 2026, at 4:00 p.m. at White Pine First Church of God with Rev. Junior Burchell officiating.
