Maybelle (Dalton) Scearce

Maybelle Dalton Scearce passed away peacefully at her home at the age of 90, August 13, 2024, with her husband, children, grandchildren, and special friends by her side.

She was saved at an early age, and was a lifelong member of Fairview United Methodist Church in Thorn Hill.

She loved working in her garden and flowers, and listening to her gospel music.  Maybelle was a kind and generous soul always putting others needs before her own, especially her children’s.

Maybelle was preceded in death by her parents, Cal and Alice Singleton Dalton; brothers, Carl and Fred Dalton; sister, Hazel Carpenter; son-in-law, Chuck Dalton.

She is survived by her husband of seventy years, Rhea Scearce; daughters, Reda (Dana) Dalton, Karen Dalton of Thorn Hill; sons, Ken and Donald Scearce of the home; grandsons, Travis, Justin, Lucas and Jesse Dalton; great-granddaughters, Kyra, Leah, Jenna, and Carly Dalton; great-grandson, Brentlee Dalton; special friends, Jean Scearce, Susie Fisher, Susie Holt, and Kim Dalton Byrd; along with a host of family and friends.

The family would like to say a special “Thank You” to Amedisys Home Health in Sneedville, TN.

The family will receive friends Saturday, August 17, 2024 from 5-7 P.M. in the chapel of Stetzer-Bales Funeral Home.  Funeral services will follow at 7:00 P.M. with Rev. Jerry Epperson officiating.  Graveside/Interment services will be Sunday, August 18, 2024 at 2:00 P.M. at Dalton Cemetery, Scearce Loop in Thorn Hill.

The singers will be the Epperson Family.

Pallbearers will be the grandsons and great-grandson, Travis, Justin, Lucas, Jesse, and Brentlee Dalton.
