Madonna Sue Kennedy, 79, born on April 16, 1945, in Turkey Creek, KY, passed away on Tuesday, April 1, 2025, surrounded by her family at Ridgeview Terrace in Rutledge, TN. She retired from the Mingo County Board of Education after a career spanning over 40 years, dedicated to serving her community.
Madonna was preceded in death by her parents, Westle and Bertha Cisco; her five siblings; and her loving husband, George Kennedy.
She is survived by her four children: Franklin Lee (Jill) Smith II of Haines City, FL; Djuana (Jake) Anderson of DeBary, FL; Sharen (Edwin) Greene of Lexington, NC; and Karen (David) Childress of Rutledge, TN. She also leaves behind five grandchildren: Madison Smith; Chase (Tayloir) Stepp; Jessica (Nigel) Macauley; Ronald (Becky) Dimaline; and Makaelyn (Aaron) Albright, along with five greatgrandchildren.
Madonna was a friend to anyone in need and never met a stranger. She enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, as well as watching WWE and game shows. Madonna committed her life to the Catholic Church in 2008 and was a dedicated member of St. John Paul II Catholic Mission until her passing.
Services will be held at 1:00 P.M. Saturday, April 12, 2025 at St. John Paul Catholic Mission II in Rutledge, TN.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Madonna’s memory to St. Paul Catholic Mission II in Rutledge, TN.
