Lois Ernestine Bernard, began her joyful rest on Wednesday, January 29, 2025.
She was delivered as one of the famous Dr. Kenner’s babies in Kingsport, TN. Lois graduated from Whitesburg High School and attended Carson-Newman College and Walter’s State Community College. She majored in history and political science. She retired after 37 years with Hamblen County Schools. She also worked for the Hamblen County Election Commission in her district. Lois was a life long active member of historical Whitesburg First Baptist Church and presently had the honor of the longest membership in her church. Lois enjoyed sewing, music, and travel.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Mr. Charles A. Bernard and Mrs. Ernestine Bernard.
She is survived by on beloved adopted son, Shannon Bernard; along with cousins and many wonderful friends.
Visitors may call Saturday, February 1, 2025 from 12:30 p.m. – 2:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Whitesburg. Funeral services will follow at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Brian Wilson and Rev. Lee Roy Davis officiating. Burial will follow at Gulley’s Cemetery in Bulls Gap.
