Joe Snowden, a dedicated family man, a proud veteran, and a pillar of the Morristown community, passed away on October 31, 2023. He was born in Greene County, TN in 1941, and his life was a testament to the values of service, devotion, and love.
Joe's early years were marked by his unwavering commitment to his country. He served with pride in the United States Army, defending the freedoms that we hold dear. His sense of duty and honor was a defining aspect of his character.
Post military, Joe joined the Morristown Fire Department where he served over 3 decades and retired as the Deputy Fire Chief. His dedication to the safety and well-being of his fellow citizens was unwavering, and his leadership was a source of inspiration to all who served alongside him.
Joe loved life and had many hobbies outside of work. He loved to play golf and could often be found at Clinchview Country Club, perfecting his swing, and enjoying the camaraderie of the sport. He was also a devoted enthusiast of classic cars, with a special fondness for exceptionally red ones. He and his beloved wife, Faye, shared a love for attending car shows together, making cherished memories that will endure.
Joe's greatest love was his wife, Faye, with whom he shared 53 wonderful years. They loved the water and enjoyed regular trips to the beach and cruising the lake in their boat. Faye was the heart of his life, and their bond was a source of strength and joy for both of them. Joe was a member of the First Baptist Church, where he found solace and community.
Joe was preceded in death by his parents, Clyde and Mary Snowden, and his daughter, Kelly Snowden.
Those left behind to mourn his passing and cherish his memory are his loving wife, Faye Snowden, his daughter and best friend, Stephanie Snowden-Harman (Trey), his son, Joey Snowden, his stepdaughter, Tammy Cox (Hal), and his cherished dog, Smokey. He also leaves behind other special family members and friends, all of whom were touched by his kindness, strength, and enduring love.
The family will receive friends Friday, November 3, 2023 from 5-7 P.M. in the chapel of Stetzer-Bales Funeral Home. Funeral services will be Saturday, November 4, 2023 at 1:00 P.M. at the funeral home with Rev. Kenny Cole officiating. Interment will follow in Jarnagin Cemetery with military honors. The Morristown Fire Department will serve as pallbearers.
