Jane (Yount) White

Jane Yount White, age 77, of Talbott, passed away Friday, March 14, 2025, surrounded by her family and loved ones.

Jane was born in Lenoir, NC to Charles and Lilly Yount on April 30, 1947.  She attended high school at Granite Falls High School.  She earned a bachelor’s degree in education from Appalachian State University, a master’s in education from Winthrop University and a plus 45 from the University of Tennessee and Walter State Community College.  For over 30 years, she taught math at East Ridge Middle School in Morristown.  After retiring, she was an adjunct professor for Walter State Community College.  She was an avid reader of books, traveling, and playing with her grandchildren.

Jane is preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Lilly Yount; and step-mother, Thelma Lane Yount.

Jane is survived by her husband of 54 years, Steve; her children, Sean and wife, Beth Cory, and Stephanie and husband, Chris; brother, Charles and wife, Pam; grandchildren, Lincoln, Piper, Asher, David, and Annie.

A celebration of life will be held in the old sanctuary at Manley Baptist Church in Morristown on Friday, March 21, 2025 at 1:00 P.M. with chaplain Jeremy Gilmer officiating.

In lieu of flowers, and to honor Jane’s love of reading and teaching, donation may be made to Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library.
