James "Jim" Harrell Gose

James “Jim” Harrell Gose, age 87, of Morristown, passed away Sunday, January 18, 2026 at The Heritage Center.

Jim strongly believed that every person should live in a decent home.  He supervised the building of the first two Habitat for Humanity homes in Hamblen County.

He began his life’s careers as a real estate salesman at Bible Realty Co.  Then he joined his father, Howard, and brother, Gene, and cousins, Kelly and Eph Gose and their father, Claude W. Gose in founding Norris Mobil Home Corporation to build quality mobile homes to sell to the public. 

After selling the company to Clayton Homes, Jim retired.  He and Sarah were able to do some travelling to the British Isles, Paris, France, Rome, Italy, Spain, and the Greek Islands.

Jim suffered a brain bleed in August, 2021, leading him to the physical therapy floor at The Heritage Center.  While there he suffered a stroke and remained at The Heritage Center on Unit 2 until his death.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Howard, and Edith Keck Gose.

He is survived by his loving wife, Sarah Arnold Gose; children, John Gose, and Joan G. (Jim) Trolinger; grandchildren, James, and David Gose; sisters, Daris Gose of Morristown, and her daughter, Elaine, Mary Gose of Bristol and her daughters, Edie, and Laura; sister-in-law, Doris Gose of Bean Station.

A celebration of life service will be held Friday, January 23, 2026 at 1:00 p.m. at All Saints’ Episcopal Church with The Rev. Smokey Oats officiating.  The family will receive friends after the service.  His cremains will be placed in the columbarium at All Saints’ Episcopal Church. 

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Habitat for Humanity in Hamblen County, Project Breakthrough of Knoxville, All Saints’ Episcopal Church, MATS, or a charity of your choice.
