J W West, age 92, of Talbott, passed away Monday, June 22, 2026, at his home.

He was a Navy Veteran and served on the U.S. York Town during 1956 through 1958. He had a love for street rods, drag cars, and drag racing.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Virginia Ann West; parents, Clifford and Rose Mary West.

He is survived by his sons, Larry (Mari) West, Beacher (Tracy) Gregg, and Carter (Jennifer) Gregg; granddaughter, Stevie Ann (Travis) Hutsell; 3 great-grandchildren, Kyler, Calum, and Decker; brothers, Marshall and Jerry (Ann) West; sisters, Rose Mary Collier and Nancy Norton; along with several other family members and friends.

The family would like to give a special thank you to Smoky Mountain Hospice and his nurse, Aaron Smith, for all the love, care and concern they showed.

The family will receive friends Wednesday, June 24, 2026, from 6-8 P.M. in the chapel of Stetzer-Bales Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at 8:00 P.M. with Rev. Gary Norton and Rev. Scott Cline. Graveside/interment services will be Thursday, June 25, 2026, at 11:00 A.M. at Jefferson Memorial Gardens in Jefferson City.
