J.P. Denton, age 92 of Morristown passed away Wednesday, March 9, 2022 at home. He was a member of Alpha Baptist Church and retired from Enka after 36 years. He also served in the Army during the Korean War from 1948-1950.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Flossie Denton; brother, Paul Denton and wife Gladys, brother, Charles Denton and wife Jean; sister, Aileen Mills; daughter, Patty Denton; granddaughter, Kaitlyn Copeland; and son-in-law, Bruce Plum.
He is survived by his wife, Joan Denton; daughter, Karen (Frankie) Ward; bonus daughters, Angie Plum and Charla (Tim) Bruns; grandchildren, Samuel and Chloe Ward; bonus grandchildren, Brooke (Cody)Whitt, Christopher (Arleth) Plum, Cameron Copeland, Katie (Wes) Dennis, Evan and Ryan Bruns; and great-grandson Natanael Plum; brother- in- law, Cecil Mills; and sister- in- law, Villa Ray (Bob); and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends Sunday, March 13, 2022, from 1 - 3 with funeral at 3:00 pm at Stetzer Bales Funeral Home in Morristown with the Rev. Terry Kirby officiating. Burial will be Tuesday at 1:00 p.m. at Hamblen Memory Gardens.
Pallbearers will be: Christopher Plum, Samuel Ward, Cody Whitt, Frankie Ward, Danny Mills and Blake Gordon.
Honorary pallbearers are Cameron Copeland and Cecil Mills.
