Eva Ruth (Chandler) Carson

Eva Ruth Chandler Carson passed away on Friday, April 15, 2022 in Peachtree City, Georgia at the age of 97.  Ruth was born October 10, 1924 in Hawkins County, in the community of Eidson.  Her parents brought their family to Morristown in 1926 when Ruth was two years old.  Their first home was located on Liberty Hill Rd. near Liberty Hill United Methodist Church.  Ruth met her husband-to-be, James Shannon Carson, at Liberty Hill Church when both were teenagers.  She and Shannon spent the remainder of their married life hardly more than a mile from the church.  Ruth’s most precious memories centered around her life at Liberty Hill.  She and Shannon graduated from Morristown High School in 1942.  They were wed in 1948.  Their marriage brought them two daughters.  Ruth lived out the last 5 years of her life near her two daughters in Georgia.

Ruth was preceded in death by her husband, James Shannon Carson; brothers, Mack Chandler, Jr., Earl Chandler and Ralph Chandler; sisters, Sybil Smith and Mary Nelle Purkey.

Ruth is survived by her daughters, Vicki Wallen (Gaines), Susan Huddleston (Bill); grandson, Paul Huddleston (Bobbie); and great-grandson, Clay Huddleston.

The family will receive friends Sunday, April 24, 2022 from 2 – 4 P.M. in the chapel of Stetzer-Bales Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at 4:00 p.m. with Rev. Jack Jenkins officiating.  Interment will follow at Liberty Hill Cemetery.
