Eugene McArthur "Skip" Thacker

Eugene “Skip” Thacker, age 64, of Rogersville, passed away on Monday, August 21, 2023 at Morristown-Hamble Healthcare System.

Skip was preceded in death by his mother, Bobbie Jean Dotson Thacker; brother, Russell Glenn Thacker; paternal grandparents, Neely and Nola Thacker; maternal grandparents, Henry and Eliza Dotson; finance’s parents, Frank and Beulah Cupp.

He is survived by his fiancé, Kym Cupp DeBord of Rogersville; parents, Sidney “Mack” (Frances) Thacker of Morristown; daughters, Bobbie (Stacey) Owenby and Whitney Thacker, both of Whitesburg; bonus-sons, Dustin (Natasha) DeBord of Greeneville and Dalton DeBord of Asheville, NC; step-sisters, Cynthia (Gary) Short Steward of GA, Melissa (Ricky) Short Wolfe of Morristown; step-brother, Jeff (Cindy) Short of Bulls Gap; also surviving are his grandchildren, Bradley, Zoey and Ivy Owenby, and Boston and Joey Henley all of Whitesburg; bonus-grandsons, Jakob DeBord of Jonesborough, Theo and Manuel DeBord of Greeneville, and Dakota DeBord of Rogersville; his best friends, Dave Kuehl of Greeneville, and Dan Cochran of Rogersville; and his loyal companion, Sammie.

A formal visitation will not be held, but the family will be having a Celebration of Life on Saturday, September 16, 2023 at the Rogersville City Park (pavilion #2), from 3 – 5 P.M.

In lieu of flowers, Skip requested that donations be made to the Hawkins County Humane Society, St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital or to the charity of your choice in his memory.
