Eddie Ridley Obituary

Eddie Lee Ridley, also known as ‘Ed,’ a cherished Husband, Father, Papaw, Brother, and Friend, passed away on July 9, 2025, in the comfort of his home in Talbott, Tennessee, surrounded by his loving family. Born on April 5, 1956, in Morristown, Tennessee, to Clifford “Jack” and Shelby (Britt) Ridley, Eddie’s journey through life was marked by brilliance, hard work, and an indomitable spirit that touched everyone he encountered.

Family and friends are invited to share stories and celebrate Ed’s life with a Visitation at Stetzer-Bales Funeral Home, 146 E. Main St., Morristown, TN, on Monday, July 14th beginning at 6pm, with Family Remembrances beginning at 7pm. There will be a private graveside service for the family.

Three days after graduating high school, Eddie joined the Navy, embarking on an adventure that allowed him to serve his country and explore various corners of the world. His dedication to service lasted six years, during which he distinguished himself not only as a sailor but also as a scholar, earning a Master’s Degree in Mathematics and a Master’s Degree in Physics.

Eddie’s intelligence was matched only by his quick wit and unwavering honesty. He possessed a wonderful sense of humor that brought lots of laughs to gatherings with family and friends. Ed enjoyed telling stories that drew laughter and lightened the hearts of those around him, as well as some wild and unbelievable tales that he experienced. Eddie had the attention of all when he spoke.

His passions extended beyond academic pursuits. Eddie had an affection for reading and made time to study the Bible deeply. A lover of music, he found pleasure both in listening to and playing Christian melodies, often filling the home with his guitar. Family was everything to Ed; he often gathered his loved ones for cookouts, pool parties, and card game nights at ‘Nana & Papaw’s House.’ He particularly cherished the moments spent teaching his brother-in-law, Duke McLaughlin, the art of fishing, sharing not only skills but memories that would last a lifetime. Watching his grandchildren play in his backyard, swim in the pool, and, on occasion, dance playfully to some oldies like "Boogie Shoes" by KC and the Sunshine Band, was a profound source of joy for him.

Eddie is survived by and profoundly missed by his beloved wife, Dina (Pinzino) Ridley of the home; his daughters, April White and Amber "AJ" Barrett, and husband, Dustin; his son, Joe Ridley, and wife, Makayla, as well as his stepchildren, Sarah Johnson and Jacob Johnson. Ed took immense pride in his grandchildren: Alexander and Sophia White, Finley Barrett, Macoy Ridley, Isaiah Smith, Stella VanGundy, and Abel Holmes, who brought light, laughter, and love into his life.

He is also survived by his best friend and brother, Ricky Ridley, along with his wife, Tammy; brother-in-law, Duke McLaughlin; and several adored cousins, including Terry Britt, Teresa Stepp, Kathy Bunch, Debbie Letterman, Randy Ridley, and Michael Ridley. His memory will forever hold a special place in the hearts of his aunts, Sarah "Crickett" Brown, Geraldean "Gerry" Moore, and Lou Ridley; along with his very dear friends, Karen Ridley, Donna and Billy James, Jean Brummitt, David and Cynthia Brummitt, Tom and Laurie DeWolfe, Josh and Brandy Byington, Eddie Taylor, and Bud Simmons.

Eddie was greeted in heaven by those who preceded him in death, including his parents; his sister, Sandra Crigger; grandson, Jack Carter-Lee Ridley; beloved fathers-in-law, David "Joe" Brummitt and Jude Pinzino; brother-in-law, Emilo "Tony" Pinzino; and his four-legged companion, Booger. His legacy also includes the memories of uncles and cousins who have influenced and shaped his life.

Special thanks to UT Cancer Center, UT Hospice, Dr. Aron Burke, Amy Bradley, Tiffany Herron, the late Dr. Wallace, and Diane Carpenter.

Eddie's battle with lung cancer was brief, but his spirit remained strong until the very end. His passing has left a void in the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing him. Eddie Lee Ridley was not just a remarkable individual, but a pillar of strength and guidance to his family. His memory will continue to inspire and guide his family as they carry forward the values and lessons he instilled in them. May he rest in peace, enveloped in love that knows no bounds. Until we meet again…
