Dorothy Jean (Bales) Whitaker

Dorothy Jean Whitaker went to be with the Lord on Friday, May 3, 2024 at home with her family by her side.  She was a member of Watkins Chapel United Methodist Church and worked at Berkline for 43 years.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, John Whitaker; parents, Audley and Mary Bales; sister and brother-in-law, Carolyn and Ernest Lee; brother and sister-in-law, Jimmy and June Bales; sister, Ruth Walker; nephews, James Michael Peterson, Johnny Welch, Dwight Pack; and special niece, Haley Pack.

Dorothy was a beautiful soul who loved to sit on her front porch and read the newspaper.  She never met a stranger and loved to talk with everyone.

Dorothy had no children, but she considered her nieces and nephews as her own.  She is survived by Pam Sherman (Ed), Lorin Bradley (Chris) and their daughter, Ella, Lindsay Epps (Adam) and their son, Ace, Robyn Jones, Ethan Walker and his daughter, Terri, Jon Gauge Carter, Janet Pack (Philip), Teresa Banki, Kim Lane (Clark), Jaymie Goins (Kent), Eddie Inman (Connie); along with 8 great nieces and nephews, and 10 great-great nieces and nephews

The family would like to thank Caris Hospice for their loving care and concern for Dorothy during this time.

The family will receive friends Monday, May 6, 2024 from 5-7 pm at Stetzer-Bales Funeral Home in Morristown, TN.  There will be a graveside service on Tuesday, May 7, 2024 at 2 pm Hamblen Memory Gardens with Pastor Darrell Chambers officiating.  Online condolences may be made at stetzerbales.com.
