David Otis Downey

David Otis Downey, age 69, of Strawberry Plains, passed away Thursday, December 28, 2023 at his home surrounded by his family.  He was retired from BASF in Lowland.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Rex and Helen Downey; father-in-law, Charles Pistole.

He leaves behind his wife of 48 years, Susan Downey; son, David C. Downey; daughter and son-in-law, Scarlett (Tony) Crowe; grandson, Jackson; brother, Don (Robin) Downey of Centerville, Maryland; sister, Brenda (Jerry) Downey of Knoxville; mother-in-law, Faye Pistole formerly of Morristown; 2 sisters-in-law; and one brother-in-law; along with a very large extended family.

The family will receive friends Sunday, January 14, 2024 from 1:30 P.M. – 2:30 P.M. at Morristown Church of Christ.  A celebration of life will follow at 2:30 P.M. with Minister Blaine Kelly officiating.

In lieu of flowers the family request donations be made to the Charcot Marie Tooth Association for research.
