Danny Ray Smith, a resident of Knoxville and formerly of Morristown, tragically passed away early Saturday morning, August 21st. He was 65.
Danny found joy in loving God and his family, serving others, and visiting with his countless friends. If you wanted to find Danny, there was a good chance he was traveling the roads. He could frequently be found on his Harley-Davidson, riding to places like Sturgis (South Dakota), Rolling Thunder (Washington D.C.), or the nearest winding mountain road. Other times, he could be found achieving 1,000,000 safe-driving miles as a loyal employee to Roadway/YRC for 26 years.
Danny was a loving husband to Theresa Smith, son to Alice M. Smith (Bean Station) and the late R.P. Smith, father to Shawn Smith (Mooresburg), step-father to Sydney McGinnis (Antioch), brother to Don Smith (Bean Station) and Debbie (Sam) Cook (Morristown), and uncle to Kellye Cook (Knoxville) and Nicholas Cook (Nashville). Danny leaves behind an abundance of family and friends who loved him dearly.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate Danny’s life any time between 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Thursday, August 26th, at Stetzer-Bales Funeral Home. A memorial service will immediately follow. To honor Danny’s life, the family requests donations be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
