Connor Smallman Obituary

Connor Smallman, 18, of Morristown, Tennessee, passed away on June 28, 2025, in the same town where he was born, leaving behind a community of family and friends who loved him deeply. His passing was a heartbreaking loss to all who knew him.

Born on September 1, 2006, Connor was a vibrant soul with an infectious laugh, captivating blue eyes, and a smile that could light up any room. He was known for his incredible loyalty, his kind heart, and his ability to make everyone feel like his best friend. He touched more lives than he ever realized.

Connor had a deep love for music—he was always listening to it, rapping along, or creating his own. He found peace and joy in the outdoors, especially camping and building fires under the stars. He was a gifted artist, pouring his creativity into sketches and tattoo designs with immense talent and passion. Devoted to his Norse pagan faith, Connor believed deeply in the traditions of his ancestors and held fast to the idea that he now waits proudly in the halls of Valhalla.

He is survived by his loving mother Megan Smallman, father Matthew Bunch, and stepfather Jamie Hinkelman; his beloved brothers Seth and Zayvion Hinkelman; his aunt Jennifer Mills and her family—Toby, Griffin, Owen, and Josie Mills; cousin Rayne Wilcox; grandparents Lisa and Arthur Hinkelman; aunt Dishana Hinkelman and cousins Beckham and Angelina Hinkelman; and his adopted grandmother Kathy Frankford.

Connor was preceded in death by his great-grandmother Marie Reed, grandfather Dale Smallman, and his best friend Nickolaus McCormick.

He also leaves behind a circle of close friends who were like family to him: Brian Smith, Aiden and Neo Maner, Corey Baker, Eric Heatherly, and so many others who stood by him and loved him for exactly who he was.

Though Connor battled mental health challenges throughout his life, he remained incredibly strong and gave so much of himself to others. His passing is a profound reminder of how deeply people can hurt even while being a light to others. He will be remembered as someone who brought joy, warmth, and love into the world—and who remains, always, a cherished son, brother, grandson, nephew, cousin, and friend.

A memorial to celebrate Connor’s life will be held on Sunday, July 6th at 3:00 p.m. at Panther Creek State Park, at the Smallman Pavilion by the overlook. All who knew and loved him are welcome to attend.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you honor Connor’s memory by being kind, checking in on each other, and never hesitating to reach out for help when you need it.

Hail to Connor, forever loved, forever missed.
