Charles Johnson Obituary

Charles Andrew "Chuck" Johnson age 93 of Morristown TN passed away Feb 22nd 2025. Charles was born on the family farm in Nye Wisconsin.

He was the second oldest of nine children. He attended the local schools and worked on the farm until joining the army in 1949 at age 17. In the army Charles attended electronics school in Japan. He was then shipped off to Korea where the war had broken out. Charles was in charge of communication systems for the remote army camps at which he was posted. He received the Bronze Star medal during his service. After the service Charles moved to St. Paul MN where he was soon to meet his lovely Bride to be Diane. They were married June of 1956 and moved to Green Bay WI. and started a family. Charles went on to have a career in the electronics field with Sylvania, and Philips. He and Diane raised 2 boys, Dean who passed away in 2023, and Keith. The family moved from Green Bay to the Chicago area in 1967, then on to Talbott TN.

Charles was master of many different areas of life. He built his own 18-foot cabin cruiser from scratch. He wired houses. He was a master griller on his weber. He had his own lathe to support any projects he wanted to undertake. Charles did not like to pay anyone for something he thought he could do on his own and do it better.

Charles loved fixing things, and helping others with fixing their things. He was also generous with his time. He was the volunteer sound engineer for St. Patrick church for over 40 years and a member of the Knights of Columbus. He and Diane were both regular volunteers at The Daily Bread Community Kitchen. Charles served on the board of directors there as well.

Charles loved fishing and hunting. His summer vacations always included a trip to a cabin on a lake in northern Wisconsin.

Charles is survived by his wife Diane and his son Keith.
