Brenda Gail Hill-Winstead, age 69, passed peacefully at home on Thursday, August 12, 2021.
Brenda was well known in the Head Start community as “Miss Brenda” and was a teacher there for over 30 years. Brenda also loved serving the Lord, and was a Sunday School teacher for many years. The love and passion she had for helping children grow and learn was an amazing talent to witness.
After she retired, Brenda became a volunteer at Morristown-Hamblen Hospital, where she worked in the Gift Shop. She loved meeting new people and she loved her co-workers very much.
Brenda was preceded in death by her loving husband of 43 years, Roger Winstead; her parents, Elmer and Mary Hill; sisters, Edith Owenby Carver, Dorothy Owenby Combs, and Nona Owenby; brothers, Arvin Owenby, Wade Hill, Roy Hill and Ralph Hill.
She is survived by her daughter, Amanda Wilson; son-in-law, Greg Wilson; granddaughter, Kaylin Winstead; grandson, Dominick Wilson; sisters-in-law, Reva Owenby, Sherry Hill and Pat Helton; many nieces, nephews and cousins; and special friends, Patty Williams, Gail Seal, Amanda Collins-Justice, Yolanda Treece and Debbie Lovin.
Thank you, Amedisys/Amedisys Hospice, for taking such good care of Brenda, and making this so special for us. She loved her nurses, and made some great friends with each of you.
A special thank you to Debbie and Roy Lovin for helping care for her. It was greatly appreciated.
The family will receive friends from 3 – 5 P.M. Saturday, August 14, 2021 at True Life Church (860 E. Hwy. 11-E) in Jefferson City, where Brenda was a member. Funeral service will follow at 5:00 P.M. with Rev. Jimmy Inman.
