Betty Ann (Starnes) Turner

November 6, 1943 ~ May 20, 2022 (age 78)

Betty Ann Starnes Turner, 78, of Bulls Gap, TN died unexpectedly at Jefferson Memorial Hospital on Friday, May 20, 2022.

Betty was a resident of East TN for most of her life, with homes in Greene, Hamblen and Hawkins counties.  She proudly worked at and retired from Keene/Kaydon Corporation in Greeneville, TN where she manufactured and wired filters.  She was a long-time member of Dover Presbyterian Church.  No matter where Betty went, she cultivated friendships that lasted her life time.  Friends were family and family friends.

Betty was preceded in death by her grandmother, Dora Starnes; and aunts, Tide Thompson and Matsie Weems, the women that raised her; father, Tom Starnes; mother, Annie Smith; all of her uncles/brothers and aunts/sisters; sister, Jan Brown; brother, Rick Starnes; numerous other cherished family members and her dog daughter, Samantha.  If you knew Betty, you understand.

Betty is survived by her daughter, Sherrill and son-in-love, Dan; grandson, Caleb Spofford, brother, Gale Starnes; sister-in-law, Alice Cowan; sister-cousins, Barbara Sue Griffin, Barbara Jean Gibson, Cathy Carter; and life sisters, Carol Harris, Brenda Shephard, Norma Jean Hope and Kathy Peters.

Betty had the biggest heart and loved and valued so many, but especially the children of her heart, Barbara Gregg, Danny Brotherton, Kathy Reedy, Wally Davis, and her daughter, Madalyn, Jeff Hinkle, Tesha Hinkle, Matt and Lucas Hinkle, Jeff Brown, Harris Isenberg, Dustin and Canyon Burkey, Randy and Christine Weems; and Rhonda and Ethan Gentry.

In lieu of flowers, please contribute to your church, community, local animal shelter or other passion in her name or yours.  There will be a celebration of life at a later date.
