Barbara Moles Obituary

Barbara Jean Seal Moles passed away December 26, 2021 of complications related to Parkinson’s Disease.  She was 84.  Barbara was born November 2, 1937 in Howard Quarter, Claiborne County.  She grew up in Tennessee and Michigan.  She was a graduate of Claiborne County High School (1957).  Barbara was a lifelong learner and pursued many and varied interests.  She loved travel, books, dogs, history, photography, antiques and quilt making.  She was an excellent cook, a master gardener and took art classes at Rose Center into her 70s.  She made countless trips to Alaska to dote on her grandsons and rode a dogsled in Anchorage at 79.  She was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Morristown, where she studied to become a Stephen Minister.  She had a special place in her heart for displaced children.  She loved nature and enjoyed the beauty of Tennessee’s farms and mountains.  Barbara worked as a licensed beautician before opening Stitch ‘n Time Fabric Outlet in Bean Station in 1974.  She most enjoyed her role as a homemaker and mother, however, and cherished her family.  Barbara professed faith in Christ at age 13 at Prospect Baptist Church and was baptized in Avondale Springs.  She held fiercely to her faith all her life.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Darce Seal and Rose McDaniel Seal; infant brother, Darce Seal, Jr.; step-brothers, David and Daniel Seal; step-sister, Karen Seal Cummings.

She is survived by her son, Randall Moles (Becky Jo) of Morristown; daughter, Sandi Gerjevic (Frank); and grandsons, Nicholas and Joseph Gerjevic; all of North Carolina.

The family will receive friends from 5 – 7 p.m. Saturday, January 1, 2022 in the chapel of Stetzer-Bales Funeral Home.  A funeral service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Sunday, January 2, 2022 at First Presbyterian Church of Morristown with Rev. Sam Schaus officiating.   Interment will follow at Cook Cemetery in Hancock County.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a donation to Kingswood School in Bean Station or Serenity House in Morristown.
