Barbara Nadine Hopkins, age 69, of Whitesburg, Tennessee, passed away on Wednesday, March 11, 2026, at Holston Valley Medical Center in Kingsport. Born on July 22, 1956, Barbara was a devoted member of Free Spirit Missionary Baptist Church and will be remembered for her loving and generous spirit. She touched the lives of many with her heart of gold and will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Barbara was preceded in death by her father, John Bell; mother, Della Sweet Patterson; stepfather, Den Patterson; sons, Jonathan Monroe Young and Benjamin Jesse Young; and sister, Sue Organ.
She is survived by her beloved husband, Roger SteveHopkins; son Joseph “Joey” Young and his wife Christina; grandchildren Emily Young, Ramsey Young, Mason Young, Emma Owens, and Brody Young; great-grandchildren Rozlynn and Blaine; sisters Shelby Smallwood (Elmo) and Lura Oppertshauser (Eric); brother Taylor Bell (Sharon); brother-in-law Jerry Organ; as well as several nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends. Barbara also shared a special bond with her dear friend Dwight Campbell.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, March 15,2026, from 5:00 to 6:00 p.m. in the chapel of Stetzer-Bales Funeral Home. A funeral service will follow at 6:00p.m., officiated by Rev. Jerry Bradley.
Barbara’s warmth and kindness left an indelible mark on those fortunate enough to know her. May her memory bring comfort to all who mourn her passing.
