Barbara Sue Talbott Burns, age 79, passed peacefully at her home after a long fight with Alzheimer’s on Tuesday, May 31, 2022.
Barbara was born on July 16, 1942 to Charles and Murtice Talbott in Maryville, TN. She attended school at Everett and enjoyed playing high school basketball. After graduating high school Barbara married her husband Bill Burns, and they were married for 63 years. A loving wife and mother, Barbara raised their four children and later worked as the office manager for Bill at Bill Burns Realty.
Barbara was preceded in death by her son, Bryan Burns; parents, Charles and Murtice Talbott; brothers, Kenneth, Bennett, and Hoyt Talbott; and sisters, Louise Everett, Edna Kidd, and Grace Early. She will be greatly missed by her husband, Bill; children, Chuck (Vicky) Burns, Prima (Mike) Simmons, and Sharron (Mark) Waddell; and her grandchildren, Chas (Katie)Burns, Casey Burns, Christen Waddell, Kathryn Waddell, Alex Simmons, Emily Simmons, Bennett Waddell, and Anna Grace Simmons; sister, Jane Plumlee.
Barbara loved to spend time with her family, cooking large meals, making Christmas candy to give to friends, and taking her grandchildren to Dollywood. She was always kind and well-dressed, and she read her Bible faithfully. “Her children rise up and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her: “Many women have done excellently, but you surpass them all” Proverbs 31:28-31.
The family thanks all of those who visited and sent cards, provided meals during her long illness. Special thanks to Sherry Carr, Beth Long, Leslie Renner and Lori Brown for taking care of Barbara during her illness.
Receiving of friends will be held in the Fellowship Hall at First Baptist Church Morristown on Thursday, June 2, 2022 from 5-7 P.M. The graveside service will be held at East Maryville Cemetery in Maryville, TN on Friday, June 3, 2022 at 2:00 P.M.
