Walker Stuffle, 84, went home to be with the Lord, October 20, 2019. He was blessed to be surrounded by family, friends and caregivers during his last days. He was born November 1, 1934 and was saved at a young age. His church, Mooresburg Baptist was an important part of his life where he served as a deacon, song leader and Sunday School teacher for 57 years. He was a truck driver for 43 years. He started with Mason Dixon and later worked at Consolidated Freight from where he retired. After retirement he enjoyed fishing and going to auctions and setting at the mall. Walker and his wife were devoted and faithful servants of the Lord. They loved traveling and spending time with family and friends. He was a dedicated Atlanta Braves fan along with Tennessee basketball. He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed fishing with his son, Steve and teaching his grandson, Tanner how to fish.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 62 years, Loraine Stuffle; parents, William and Ollie Mae Stuffle; brothers, Jim Stuffle, Howard Stuffle, Woodrow Stuffle, Dorman Stuffle, and Marvin Stuffle; sisters, Sarah Stuffle, Dorothy Lane and Velma Norton.
He is survived by son, Steve (Lisa) Stuffle of Mooresburg, Denise (Joseph) Shokooh of Knoxville, DeAnna (Greg) Trent of Mooresburg, grandson, Tanner Trent of Mooresburg, brother, George (Grace) Stuffle of London, KY; along with a host of nieces and nephews that he loved dearly and his beloved dog “Abby”.
The family will receive friends Tuesday, October 22, 2019 from 5 – 7 P.M. in the chapel of Stetzer-Bales Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at 7:00 P.M. with Rev. Dean Buell officiating. The Over Home Boys will provide the music. Family and friends will meet at Hamblen Memory Gardens on Wednesday, October 23, at 12:00 noon for a graveside/interment service.
